Double major in Chemistry and Human Health

Why did you choose your major/minor offered from the Human Health department?

I want to improve the human experience and Human Health was the bridge I was looking for. I came to Emory thinking the only way to serve was to be a physician but learned there are entire industries working to improve health, predict outcomes, and prioritize wellbeing that impacts the patient long before they step into a hospital.

If applicable, when you complete your major/minor from the Human Health program, what's next for you after graduation?

I will be working as a Polymer Chemist at Huntsman International. Next year, I plan to begin a degree in Food Science or another health discipline.

What advice do you have for someone considering a major/minor in Human Health at Emory?
Do it and don't look back. It is easy to follow what your peers are majoring in but keep in mind this major is moldable to your interests. The faculty in this department are eager and waiting to help you find your calling. Start looking for internships, research labs, or any way to apply what you've learned ASAP!!! The Center for the Study of Human Health holds great esteem and sets you up for success but experience will make sure you get a job when you graduate.

What part of the Emory experience do you enjoy the most?
It's so refreshing that there are no sharks in the Human Health department. Students are ready to help you and share their notes, professors are rooting for you. When it gets hard, and eventually it will, you feel you have a community to lean on. Everyone is struggling together and working together in a beautiful way.
