Noni Keyton, M.Ed.Health Educator

Biography

Noni Keyton is a health educator, sexuality studies professional, and practitioner of mental and holistic health. Her work is centered on providing education and information that promotes personal awareness and responsibility. She obtained her BS in Psychology from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA, and a Master of Education from Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies in Chester, PA. Noni has a diverse teaching background that spans various sectors of the education industry, including community-based and nonprofit organizations. As a mental health professional, she has experience in clinical settings, working with patients receiving inpatient and residential care. Noni is also certified in sound bowl therapy (Kathmandu Center of Healing - Kathmandu, Nepal) and Reiki (Arati Healing Center - Koh Phangan, Thailand).

As a member of the Health 1,2,3,4 team at Emory University, Noni understands the importance of good health maintenance and is dedicated to educating and empowering learners to thrive in health and wellness. She plays a key role in the program, contributing significantly to the sexual health component, including collaborating with the Center for Student Wellbeing to host an annual sexual health event. Additionally, she hosts sound baths during the CSHH 'Living Health' Week each semester.

Mrs. Keyton also teaches a course called Science and Comprehensive Wellness as part of Emory's pre-college summer program, with a special focus on vibrational medicine. This course explores the fascinating connections between scientific principles and holistic well-being, particularly how vibrations can support healing when integrated with conventional science.

Noni is currently pursuing a doctoral degree, with an anticipated completion in the spring of 2025. Her dissertation explores the sexual socialization process, specifically focusing on how it is experienced by Black girls and women. Through this research, she aims to make meaningful contributions to the academic community by shedding light on the unique experiences and challenges faced by these groups. This work underscores her commitment to advancing understanding and addressing critical issues within the field.
