What is your major/minor?
Biology BS with a Nutrition Science minor

Why did you decide to major/minor in Human Health at Emory?
I chose the nutrition science minor because of the significance of the diet relating to chronic diseases and overall healthfulness. What we put in our bodies can be easily taken for granted, but the choices we make are undoubtedly relevant to endless areas of our lives that are still being discovered. I have already incorporated changes to my diet based on what I have learned, and educating others on choices that we have to make every day is extremely rewarding and fulfilling. Learning more about nutrition also incorporates other incredibly important factors of life, such as exercise and sleep, and how they can affect components such as metabolism and well-being.

Once you receive your degree in Human Health at Emory, what's next for you?
I will be taking a gap year and applying to medical schools this summer. For my gap year, I will be traveling to Chiang Mai, Thailand and serving at a safe house there. I will be helping out underprivileged kids and tutoring them in English and math, so they have the opportunity to find jobs and live as productive members of their community.

What advice do you have for someone considering a major/minor in Human Health at Emory?
My best advice for prospective human health students is to truly engage in the material being presented. Issues surrounding human health can often be overlooked, so it is important to be passionate about these topics, so you can really make a difference in the present or in your future career! I know that all the nutrition topics that I have learned over the past couple of years will really allow me to apply it to my future career in healthcare.

What part of the Emory experience do you enjoy the most?
I don't think there is one part of the Emory experience that I enjoyed the most. However, I could list the countless moments with my friends on Cox bridge, playing soccer at Oxford, participating in intramural sports, or meeting my best friends all the way back in freshman year.
