What is your major/minor?
Human Health BA & Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology BS

Why did you decide to major/minor in Human Health at Emory?
I decided to major in Human Health at the end of my second year at Emory. The majority of the classes I had taken during my first three semesters at Emory were heavily science based, and I was having trouble connecting what I was learning to my future dreams of becoming a doctor. After trying a Human Health course, I realized how much I enjoyed learning about the human side of healthcare, and quickly realized that so many of the classes offered through CSHH were incredibly interesting to me. Since declaring the major, I have explored areas of human health that I previously knew very little about, and the knowledge I have gained has inspired me to pursue an MPH before applying to medical school.

Once you receive your degree in Human Health at Emory, what's next for you?
In the fall, I will be attending Boston University School of Public Health where I will be pursuing an MPH in Health Policy and Law with a context certificate in Mental Health and Substance Abuse. I also plan to apply to medical school.

What advice do you have for someone considering a major/minor in Human Health at Emory?
My biggest piece of advice would be to take classes on a wide variety of topics. Through the Human Health major, I was able to take classes focused on epidemiology, social determinants of health, drug discovery, nutrition, and global health among many others. This opened my eyes to the many different paths that one can take in healthcare and allowed me to learn about topics I previously had little interest in or did not know much about. The Human Health major and minors have so many unique and fascinating courses, and I highly recommend you explore classes and different areas of human health.

What part of the Emory experience do you enjoy the most?
Throughout my time at Emory, I have loved getting to connect with my fellow students and the incredible faculty. I have particularly enjoyed working on the Clinical Protocol Writing team through the Gavegnano Drug Discovery Program and actively experiencing how a drug makes its way from a lab bench all the way to a patient’s bedside.
